ABOUT

This Digital Industries and Technology - Level 2 Diploma (Pre Access) course provides learners with a strong foundation in key digital and IT-related areas, preparing them for further study or entry-level roles in the industry.

This well-rounded qualification prepares students for a variety of digital careers and further education in IT and technology-related fields.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Modules can include:

  • Algebra and Graphs, and Further Statistics and Probability: develop analytical and problem-solving skills crucial for IT and digital professions.
  • Using Structured Query Language (SQL) and Computer Networks: an introduction to data management and networking fundamentals.
  • Programming Fundamentals and Robotic Solutions: providing hands-on experience in coding and automation.
  • Software Testing Principles and Cyber Security: understand the importance of secure and reliable digital systems. Other key areas, such as HTML and CSS Basics, help build web development skills.
  • Supporting Sustainability in an Office Environment emphasises the role of digital technologies in promoting sustainable practices.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • GCSE grades 3 and above for English and Maths
  • A Level 1 qualification in Computing

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

You will be assessed by assignments and a portfolio.

FEES

Adults - LEVEL 2

This course may be free for you if you meet certain conditions:

  • If you are not working or have a low income. You need to show proof of your income or benefits.
  • If you are aged 19-23 and you do not have the equivalent of five GCSEs at grade 9-4. You need to show us proof of any qualifications you already have.
  • Residency rules apply. You need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions.
  • There are some exceptions, such as certain visa types.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.

If you are not eligible for a free or reduced-cost course, you need to pay the full fee.

PROGRESSION

This qualification will enable you to progress onto further study at a higher level, such as Access to Computer Science, into employment or an apprenticeship in a related area.
