ABOUT

This study programme will help you develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to work in areas such as, accounting, finance and banking. You will develop your accounting and financial skills for use in your future workplace or to further your education to the next level.  You will gain 3 separate qualification

The programme comprises:

  • AAT Business Skills (accredited through AAT)
  • Award in Bookkeeping (accredited through AAT)
  • Computerised Accounting for Business (accredited - SkillsFirst)
  • 1-2-1 tutorials
  • Mandatory work experience and enrichment
  • GCSE Maths or English (to grade 4 or above)

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Topics covered can include:

  • Introduction to book-keeping
  • Bookkeeping Fundamentals
  • Working within book-keeping
  • Working in the business environment
  • Using Numbers in Business
  • Banking procedures
  • Using a computerised accounting application

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • To be aged 16 to 18
  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language and Maths

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

Each of the individual qualifications are assessed through external exams. The methods of teaching are supported by ongoing formative feedback, mock exams and self-study which will enable you to achieve full certification. There will be a compulsory work placement element to gain experience and gain successful completion of this qualification.

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2


If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. PROGRESSION

Upon successful completion of this course, learners who possess level 1 qualifications in both English and Mathematics will be eligible to apply for the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting qualification. The skills acquired throughout this qualification open doors to employment opportunities in various sectors, offering junior or supporting administrative roles in companies. Some potential job roles include:

  • Trainee Bookkeeper: Develop the necessary expertise to assist with bookkeeping tasks and contribute to financial record-keeping processes.
  • Accounts Administrator: Take on administrative responsibilities related to accounts, assisting in tasks such as data entry, reconciliations, and supporting financial transactions.
  • Billing/Payments Administrator/Coordinator: Play a key role in billing and payments operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processing invoices and coordinating payment activities.
  • Accounts Junior: Support the accounting team with basic financial tasks, including data input, financial reporting, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.

By acquiring these skills and qualifications, learners position themselves for entry-level positions that provide a solid foundation for further growth and development in the accounting and finance field.
