Plumbing - Level 3 Technical Certificate

This qualification is for you if you are a 16-19 year old learner, who wishes to work as a plumber in the building services industry. It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning or into employment. This vocational route at level 3 is a vital step towards becoming a competent plumber. 

The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the plumbing sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:

• Working safely and effectively 
• Principles of environmental technology systems
• Cold water system planning and design
• Hot water system planning and design
• Domestic central heating systems planning and design 

We will work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers. This practically based training is ideal preparation for gaining employment in the plumbing industry or specialist further study.

You will need:

• Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies for progressing learners

or

• Grade 3 in GCSE English and Maths

If you are a 16-19 learner and have not met the English and Maths Level 2 requirements you will be expected to attend English and Maths classes as part of your study program.

The course is designed around assessment outcomes which are delivered with a blend of theory and practical. There are 2 synoptic exams which are externally set and marked, one being a system design exam and the other an online exam covering the range of learning outcomes delivered across the duration of the course.

Aged 16-18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

The course is free for 16-19 and for progressing learners from Level 2 to Level 3. As an adult, this could be a free course if it's your first fully recognised Level 3 course.

This technical qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and practical skills needed for working in the Plumbing industry and will prepare you to enter a plumbing apprenticeship programme.

On completion of the apprenticeship, the learner will be recognised by the industry as a competent plumbing and domestic heating engineer.
