ABOUT
This course offers the City and Guilds 7202 qualification where you will gain an introduction to plumbing and the basic fundamental practical skills and knowledge required by someone aspiring to be a plumber.
This course covers all the essential basic skills and knowledge you'll need to start working as a plumber, or engineer specialising in heating or ventilation. You will learn the practical training and theory knowledge to give you a good foundation to begin work or continue studying.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
Topics covered can include:
Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
Above ground drainage
Copper pipework
Plastic pressure pipework
Low carbon steel pipework
Plumbing science
Structure of the construction industry
Environmental sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
Site preparation in the construction industry
The study programme consists of a vocational diploma, Maths and English, work experience and essential digital skills.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You do not need to have any previous qualifications.
You should be looking for work as a plumber; we can assist you in finding placements with employers.
All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS
You will be assessed on your completed practical tasks, against industry standards. Written assessment will include multiple choice questions, paper-based exams and written assignments.
FEES
Adults - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2
If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. Some courses will have other associated costs, such as for specialist materials and trips. Many of our students are eligible for financial support, see here for details.
You will need stationary, overalls and safety boots.
PROGRESSION
This course will help you to move on to higher level courses including Plumbing - Level 2 or an apprenticeship.
