ABOUT THE COURSE

This qualification is designed for any learner who wants to raise their awareness of mental health and the problems that can cause mental ill health.

These may be learners who wish to access this training to progress to further qualifications or employment within health and social care, to complement other qualifications in apprenticeship frameworks within health or health and social care, or to develop in their current job role within health and social care.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

The units you will study are:

  • Understanding Mental Health
  • Understanding Stress
  • Understanding Anxiety
  • Understanding Phobias
  • Understanding Depression
  • Understanding Postnatal Depression

WHAT WILL I NEED?

There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification, although learners may find it useful to have previously achieved a Level 1 qualification in a health, social care or mental health-related area.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the mandatory units. 

You are required to complete coursework which will be internally assessed. 

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Aged 16-18


If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Most level 2 qualifications are free to study. However, our Registry and Admissions team will assess each applicant and where payment is required, they will support with selecting options that are suitable to the applicant. 

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

Once this course is completed, learners may either seek employment in the health and social care sector or progress onto a level 3 health and social care course.
