The qualification is intended as the first step on the adult learner's pathway to Higher Education. It is ideal for learners who wish to study an Access to HE course in humanities or social science, but do not meet the entry requirements or need a year of consolidation and focus on study skills before embarking on a Level 3 course. The course will equip you with the foundation skills and knowledge required for humanities and social science.

All applicants must have an interview and pre-assessment (written) to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
Assessment is continuous and over the academic year. This course is assessed through coursework assignments: Essay Writing, Speaking and Listening, Report Writing and Critical thinking along with introductory units such as Introduction to Sociology and Ethical Social Policy. This may include examinations throughout the course, which are set and marked by your teachers and externally moderated by OCN London.
If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. Once you have completed your pre-access course you can progress to any number of humanities-related Access to HE courses. The course has a strong record of progression into Level 3 Access courses.
