ABOUT

This RARPA Hospitality and Catering course is a two-year practical programme designed for learners with EHCPs. The course will introduce you to the key sectors within hospitality, customer service, food preparation, and the tourism industry.

Delivered through the Supported Learning department, it offers real-world learning experiences, life skill development, and the chance to explore career pathways in a hands-on, inclusive environment. You will develop confidence, independence, and teamwork while gaining an introduction to one of the UK’s most dynamic industries.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Throughout the course, you will gain experience in a wide variety of hospitality and tourism-related topics. You will also build essential employability skills through group work, planning, communication, and problem-solving activities.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is for learners aged 16–25 who hold an EHCP. There are no formal entry qualifications required. You should have an interest in hospitality and catering and be willing to participate in group-based and practical tasks.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

This course includes:

  • Observation of practical skills (e.g. preparing food, customer service)
  • Worksheets and visual planning documents
  • Tutor and peer feedback
  • Reflections on tasks and events
  • Group project evaluations

Assessments are tailored and inclusive, utilising accessible formats that suit each learner’s needs and communication style.

FEES

AGED 16 - 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan

There are no fees for learner aged 16 to 24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

PROGRESSION

On completion, you may progress to:

  • Level 1/2 Hospitality or Travel and Tourism programmes
  • Supported internships in catering, retail, customer service, or visitor services
  • Volunteering or part-time work in cafés, hotels, tourist attractions, or event venues
  • Life skills programmes focusing on independence and community engagement

The course helps build the confidence and real-life experience needed for entry-level roles and further learning in the hospitality and tourism sector.
