ABOUT

Are you fascinated by crime scene investigations, evidence analysis, and the science behind solving mysteries? This Level 3 Forensic Science pathway is designed for students aged 16–18 who want to explore the exciting world of forensic investigation and develop the skills needed for careers in science, law enforcement, or criminal justice.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This course combines theory and practical experience to provide you with a strong foundation in forensic techniques and scientific principles. Key topics include:

  • Crime Scene Investigation: Learn how to secure and process crime scenes.
  • Evidence Collection & Analysis: Explore fingerprinting, DNA profiling, and trace evidence.
  • Forensic Biology & Chemistry: Understand the role of science in solving crimes.
  • Law & Criminal Justice: Discover how forensic evidence is used in court.
  • Practical Laboratory Skills: Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language, Maths and Science (Combined Science, or two individual Sciences) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or above

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

Assessment is continuous throughout the year through written assignments and projects, as well as through practical work assessed internally within the college.

There will also be some written examinations, assessed externally by the awarding body.

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.
