In this course, you'll explore the fundamental principles of design, textiles, and garment construction. Extended Diplomas have two one-year programmes. You need to finish the first year before moving on to the second.
This course consists of two separate qualifications.
In your first year of study, you will complete the Diploma, then progress on to complete the Extended Diploma in year 2. The Extended Diploma offers equivalent UCAS points to studying 3 A Levels with a Distinction final grade being equivalent to 3 A*s at A Level. Note: The UAL Diploma is worth more UCAS points than BTEC, the difference between A and A*.

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

This course will help you to move on to higher-level courses, such as a Bachelor of Arts, an apprenticeship or other employment.
Many of our students go to London College of Fashion or Central Saint Martins.
Jody joined Westminster Kingsway College in 2003. Alongside teaching on a part-time basis, she has worked on numerous freelance projects including designing soft furnishing for Heals and interior fabrics for luxury yachts. She also worked for many years as a freelance fashion print designer.
With an awareness of re-working and re-using fabrics. Jody has recently retrained in embroidery design, quilting and patchwork techniques, Jody is keen to instil sustainable techniques and a consideration of environmental impact into her teaching and own practice. Jody is highly qualified with a BA (Hons) in Textile Design, an MA in Printed Textiles and a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education.
