Whatever your plans for the future, the ability to use English well will help you. We offer a range of English courses to help you develop the language and communication skills you need for work and everyday life, even if you have been out of education for a while.
From complete beginners to Level 2, there will be a course at the right level for you. We will ask you to complete an assessment to help us choose the right level of teaching for you.
You will need a folder and paper, pens (including highlighters) and the use of a dictionary. Your tutor may recommend reference material that you may find useful during the course.
Functional Skills English:
We offer Functional Skills courses at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2. Functional Skills are widely recognised across all sectors of employment and can be a stepping stone to GCSE.
GCSE English:
GCSE English at grade 4 or above is a minimum requirement for many jobs, vocational courses, and further and Higher Education.

- Improve your language and literacy skills for Careers in Construction
- Improve your language and literacy skills for Careers in Health and Care
You will take part in a range of learning activities to improve your use of practical English, including the skills of speaking and listening, reading and writing.
