Digital Technologies - Level 4 Higher National Certificate is a vocationally focused undergraduate qualification designed to provide you with practical and theoretical knowledge across core areas of digital technology. This course prepares learners for a wide range of roles in the tech sector or progression to higher education.

This course runs over two days, Monday and Tuesday, 9am - 5pm

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Core modules include:

  • Unit 1: Professional Practice in the Digital Economy emphasises workplace skills and ethical considerations in the tech industry.
  • Unit 2: Innovation and Digital Transformation
  • Unit 3: Cyber Security teaches essential principles to protect digital assets.
  • Unit 4: Programming, developing coding skills across various languages.
  • Unit 5: Big Data and Visualisation focuses on handling and interpreting large datasets.
  • Unit 6: Networking and Cloud covers cloud networking principles, operational principles, protocols, standards, security considerations, and the systems associated with a range of networking technologies.
  • Unit 10: Database Design and Development, which covers structuring and managing databases.
  • Unit 11: Software Development Lifecycles introduces project management methodologies for building robust software solutions.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • A minimum of one A Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above
  • Relevant work experience may also be considered

You will be invited to an interview to ensure this course is right for you.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

There are three main forms of assessment you need to be aware of: external, internal, and synoptic.

Assessment is coursework-based and includes practical assignments, group work, reports, and presentations—no formal exams.

Adults - Higher Education

You will need to pay fees to study a Higher Education (HE) course.

If you have not studied a higher education course before, you may be eligible to apply for a Higher Education tuition fee loan. Other financial support such as maintenance loans and disability support are also available.

To enrol, you need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions for 3 years before the start of your course.
