ABOUT

This Level 1 BTEC Digital Media course is a two-year programme delivered within the Supported Learning department, designed specifically for learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The course introduces key digital media concepts alongside essential personal and employability skills. Delivered in a supportive and inclusive environment, it will provide you with a practical, creative, and confidence-building foundation in media production.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will explore a wide range of digital media topics while also developing personal and teamwork skills.

Across two years, students will complete 10 units, including areas such as animation, short film production, storyboarding, editing, and interactive design. You will also build transferable skills like organisation, research, communication, and progression planning.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is tailored for learners aged 16–25 with an EHCP. There are no formal entry qualifications required, but learners should have an interest in creative digital media and a willingness to work in a group-based, supportive setting.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

All units are assessed through coursework and practical project work. There are no formal exams. Learners will build a portfolio of evidence which includes:

  • · Completed digital media products
  • · Worksheets, visual plans and storyboards
  • · Group work observations
  • · Self and tutor evaluations
  • · Research and planning materials

Assessment is ongoing and personalised to support individual needs and communication styles.

FEES

AGED 16 - 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan

There are no fees for learner aged 16 to 24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

PROGRESSION

On successful completion of the course, learners may progress to:

  • ·       Level 2 vocational programmes (Digital Media or other creative areas)
  • ·       Supported internships
  • ·       Entry-level employment or volunteering in media-related or creative sectors
