ABOUT
This course is the first step on the pathway to a career in childcare. It is aimed at learners whose first language is not English. The course includes a Childcare Level 1 NCFE Award, taught by industry specialists, alongside ESOL and maths.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
Modules include:
- Childcare NCFE Level 1 Award
- ESOL Skills for Life Awards in Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing
- Functional Skills Maths
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need:
- Your English should be at a strong Entry 3 level
- You will need to have ESOL qualifications at Entry 3 or be able to demonstrate this in a pre-course assessment
You do not require any previous childcare qualifications.
COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS
The Childcare Award will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence. You will sit exams for ESOL and maths.
PROGRESSION
After the course you can progress to Level 2 qualifications in Childcare, Health and Social Care, or Level 2 Pre-Access courses.
