ABOUT

This Level 1 qualification will provide you with a basic understanding, knowledge and skills needed to care for young children.

You will learn how to present a professional image in an Early Years Placement whilst developing your English by combining your vocational qualification with an ESOL Entry Level 3 qualification.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

During this course you will study a range of units, including:

  • Children's growth, learning and development
  • Play and learning activities in the community
  • How to work with babies
  • Health and safety
  • Technology activities to use with young children

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All resources required for this level 1 course will be supplied by the college.

You will need to commit to attending college on the timetabled days, for this full-year course.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

All assessment for this course is by the completion of coursework and assignments. These will be completed as you study.

FEES

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

Adults - ENTRY LEVEL/LEVEL 2

This course may be free if you meet certain conditions:

  • If you are not working or have a low income. You need to show proof of your income or benefits.
  • Residency rules apply. You need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions.
  • There are some exceptions, such as certain visa types.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course, but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.

If you are not eligible for a free or reduced-cost course, you need to pay the full fee.

PROGRESSION

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to progress onto a full level 2 childcare qualification.
