Caring for a Child/Children - Entry Level 3 Certificate

This entry-level 3 qualification will provide you with the basic skills needed to care for a baby or young child.

You will learn how to present a professional image in an Early Years Placement whilst developing your English by combining your vocational qualification with an ESOL Entry Level 3 qualification.

You will study various units, these include:

• Healthy eating routines for children
• Respecting and valuing children
• Play and learning activities to use with children
• Taking care of a sick child
• Routines for young children

All the resources will be provided by the college. You will need to commit to attending all timetabled lessons for the duration of the course.

Assessment is based on the completion of coursework created during the course.

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

The majority of entry-level courses are free to enrol on. You will be fee-assessed as part of your enrolment process.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress to a Level 1 Diploma in Childcare.

This qualification develops the basic skills needed to care for a baby or young child. There is a range of units available, setting a routine through healthy lifestyles and the importance of play and learning.

You will learn how to present a professional image in an Early Years Placement whilst developing your English by combining your vocational qualification with an ESOL Entry Level 3 qualification.

There is a range of optional units that will be selected by the lecturing team. These may include:

• Routines for young children
• Confidence-building for the young child through play
• Play and learn in the home
• Eating healthily
• Providing a safe and hygienic environment for a young child
• Listening to and talking with a young child

There are no entry requirements for this course.

This qualification is assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This can include tasks such as, designing charts or leaflets, worksheets, written work or oral questioning.
