ABOUT

This qualification provides an engaging, practical and relevant introduction to the world of business and sport. It encourages you to explore the range of business types and understand the factors that influence success through analysing business models. It enables you to develop, enhance and apply your research, practical, communication and technical skills through creating and presenting a business plan for a realistic business start-up in your local area.

You will study finance and analyse key financial statements (for example, income statements and statements of financial position), reviewing their importance in the successful financial management of a business.

In relation to sport, it incorporates important aspects of the industry, such as fitness testing and training for sport and exercise, the psychology of sport, practical sports performance and sports leadership. It enables you to develop and apply your knowledge, while also developing a range of relevant practical, communication and technical skills.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

For sport, you will study a range of units relevant to the sports sector:

  • Fitness for sport and exercise
  • Practical performance in sport
  • Applying the principles of personal training

For business, you will study a range of units relevant to the business sector:

  • Introduction to business
  • Finance for business
  • Enterprise in the business world
  • Promoting a brand
  • Principles of customer service
  • Recruitment, selection and employment

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You must have:

  • A minimum of one grade 2 and one grade 3 in GCSE Maths or English.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

You will be assessed in a variety of ways:

  • Practical assessments
  • Exam assessments
  • Assignment completion
  • Role Play
  • Presentations
  • Observations
  • Project work

FEES

AGED 16 - 18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2025 before the start date of the course, and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your course then your study with us will be free.

PROGRESSION

The knowledge and skills you will acquire, as outlined above, support progression to a broad range of level 3 study, whether academic or vocational, for example, a BTEC National in Business or a BTEC National in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, A Level Business or A Level Economics.

If you are interested in taking your study of sport further, the subject-specific knowledge and skills outlined above, and developed through studying this qualification, will give you a strong foundation for academic or vocational study at level 3, including apprenticeships.
