ABOUT

This course provides you with business knowledge and theory, with an emphasis on economics, law, digital marketing or accounting and finance. The knowledge and supplementary skills you will acquire are those valued by employers, preparing you for work as well as enabling you to continue your studies at university.

Emphasis is on understanding why business skills and knowledge are important, particularly in a work-related environment.

You will attend master classes and Q&A sessions with industry experts, visit companies and exhibitions, take part in enterprise activities and competitions and network with industry and former students about their experiences.

Extended Diplomas have two one-year programmes. You need to finish the first year before moving on to the second.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This course consists of two separate qualifications. In your first year of study, you will work towards the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma. Following successful completion of this qualification, you will be able to progress to the Extended Diploma. Our Extended Diplomas offer equivalent UCAS points to studying 3 A Levels.

Topics covered can include:

  • The Business Environment
  • Business Resources
  • Introduction to Marketing
  • Business Communications

Optional units will allow you to focus on your chosen specialism within business from economics, law, digital marketing or accounting and finance.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language or Maths or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or above

All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

COURSEWORK REQUIREMENTS

Assessment is carried out by completing an employer-linked project, which embeds all units related to the course. The project is graded by achieving each task set out in the assignment brief. You will work closely with an employer brief which includes both theoretical and practical topics. This will give you both transferable practical skills and the theoretical ability to enhance your employability status with the purpose of recognising your ability to integrate the knowledge and skills gained on the course.

Some courses will have other associated costs, such as for specialist materials and trips. Many of our students are eligible for financial support, see here for details.
