ABOUT

This course is accredited by City St George's, University of London.

The programme begins with a one-year foundation which is designed to help you develop the study skills and academic knowledge needed for an engineering degree at Bachelors or Integrated Masters level. Embark on a transformative journey into aerospace engineering with our comprehensive degree program, which includes a foundation year. Dive deep into the intricate world of aerospace vehicles and systems, where you'll gain invaluable insights into analysis, design, and operational tools essential for the industry's demands. Here's why our program stands out:

  • Professional Skill Development: Throughout the course, we prioritise the cultivation of your engineering skills, emphasising innovation and sustainability to tackle present and future industry challenges.
  • Hands-On Experience: Engage in dynamic design projects and opt for an industrial placement to refine your practical abilities and expand your career opportunities.
  • Industry Integration: Benefit from our strong ties with industry leaders, ensuring that our curriculum remains relevant and up-to-date with contemporary aerospace practices.
  • Sustainability Focus: Immerse yourself in our commitment to sustainable engineering, a core principle guiding the future of aerospace endeavours.
  • Cutting-Edge Facilities: Explore our top-tier testing facilities, including the low-turbulence wind tunnel and high-speed tunnel, integral to national initiatives.
  • State-of-the-Art Equipment: Access advanced experimental equipment and computational tools, developed and supported by leading experts in the field.
  • Employability Boost: Enhance your career prospects with an optional placement year, gaining hands-on experience with renowned organisations like BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, and Airbus.

This course, which includes a foundation year, is designed specifically to help people with the passion and potential to study with us. For example, mature students need to update their technical knowledge and get used to studying again after working. Upon successful completion of the first foundation year, you’ll have the confidence and knowledge to progress to a BEng or MEng degree.

Accreditation: We expect these degrees to receive full accreditation from the Royal Aeronautical Society, which will provide a path for you to gain Chartered Engineering status.

FEES

Adults - Level 3

This course may be free if you meet certain conditions:

  • If you are not working or have a low income. You need to show proof of your income or benefits.
  • If you are aged 19-23 and you do not have a full Level 3 qualification (a full L3 is the equivalent of two A-levels at A* - E grade). You need to show us proof of any qualifications you already have.
  • Residency rules apply. You need to show you have permission to live, work and study in the UK without conditions if you live in London, or 3 years if you live outside London.
  • There are some exceptions, such as certain visa types.

Check here which documents you need to show us, and which visa types are allowed.

If you do not meet the residency rules, you can still enrol on the course but you may have to pay some fees. All applicants are fee-assessed during enrolment.

If you are not eligible for a free or reduced-cost course, you need to pay the full fee yourself, or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

If you have to pay for your course, and decide to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan (ALL), the residency rules are different: https://www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan.

Some courses have additional costs, such as for specialist materials and trips.

Many of our students are eligible for financial support. See here for details.

Adults - Higher Education

You will need to pay fees to study a Higher Education (HE) course.

If you have not studied a higher education course before, you may be eligible to apply for a Higher Education tuition fee loan. Other financial support such as maintenance loans and disability support are also available.
