On this 10 week non accredited course, you will be learning the fundamentals of the Copperplate script from a talented calligrapher and a truly hard working and dedicated artist. This course will be held onsite. You will learn about how to hold your pen & how to sit, the sizing and angles of the Copperplate script, the writing rules, basic strokes and the final words. The course will provide you with a thorough grounding in calligraphy materials. You will explore different inks, pens, nibs, and papers to enable you understand the tools, where they come from, and how they work. You will also be given an insight into the history of calligraphy. You will have the opportunity to observe and discuss texts from the past and present. You will also practise letterforms regular and fluent, with feedback and support from the tutor. By the end of this course, you will be able to identify and recognise the main characteristics of copperplate script.
