
This course will improve your understanding of sport psychology and develop your understanding of the importance of sport psychology in the success of sport performance. You will gain a greater understanding of various psychological and motivational factors and how they impact sport performance. Studying stress, anxiety and self-confidence, you will look at related theories, and how these can enhance or inhibit performance. You will also gain an understanding of group dynamics and how to design a psychological skills improvement programme.
Topics covered will include:
· Psychology and the various psychological theories (eg Bandura)
· Influence of sports psychology on sporting performance
· Physiological and motivational factors relating to sports psychology
· Impact of stress, anxiety and self confidence on sporting performance
· Group dynamics and psychological profiling
No previous qualifications needed
You will be assessed via a combination of observations during practical tasks and written coursework. Assessments throughout the course vary from topic to topic, giving you a chance to showcase your development through a variety of methods.
Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. On successful completion of this course you may progress onto Level 2 YMCA Certificate in Gym Instructing, Level 2 YMCA Diploma in Exercise and Fitness Instructing, Level 2 NCFE Certificate in Nutrition and Health or any other short courses we offer.
