
This qualification is designed for current and prospective trainee teachers who wish to be involved in teacher education programmes and need to develop subject-specific skills in maths to be able to engage successfully in a future teacher training programme.
The qualification allows learners to learn, develop and practise their personal skills in maths.
The course is designed to develop your own maths skills, as well as teaching skills to support your own learners with their maths knowledge development in the classroom.
Learners will interpret mathematical situations, process problems, analyse mathematical findings and use mathematical communication in professional and vocational contexts and academic subjects. Learners must achieve at least 12 credits from two of the following optional units: Using mathematics: in academic subjects; Using mathematics: in personal and public life; Using mathematics: in professional and vocational contexts.

You will be continuously assessed throughout the course. Assessment is subject to external verification.Learners must have completed a portfolio of evidence that covers all assessment criteria for each unit claimed.

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course.
