ABOUT THE COURSE

Designed to be taken over one year, the Diploma offers learners the opportunity to study a range of units from different sectors in the suite, supporting progression on to further study. The purpose of these qualifications is to develop the transferable skills, attributes and behaviours needed for learners to progress to further study and ultimately to employment.

The qualifications are designed to be delivered in an applied way, bringing together appropriate content with practical and technical skills. As a Level 1 qualification, the pass standard requires learners to complete routine, simple and directed tasks by applying their knowledge and skills. It is expected that learners complete tasks fully under supervision, direction or with guidance. At merit and distinction levels, learners may be expected to complete tasks in greater detail or with greater confidence or independence.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

Four GCSEs at grade 2 or above, or Entry 3 qualification in computing

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is continuous throughout the year and based on assignments and projects.

MEET SOME OF THE TEACHERS

David Ward

David is an experienced ICT instructor with a passion for computer programming. He has worked in the IT sector for over eight years and holds a Bachelor's degree in Management and Computing. David has contributed to education in various settings, including GCSE and higher education, and has earned a Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for Further Education.

Before he started teaching, David gained practical experience in the IT sector, working on various projects, from software development to web apps. This experience gave him valuable insights and a deep understanding of ICT.

David finds teaching adults and students in the 16-18 age group to be an enriching experience. He enjoys fostering a collaborative and mature learning environment, which allows for real-world context and diverse perspectives. David particularly appreciates the enthusiasm for technology and the thirst for knowledge that the 16-18 age group possesses.

Working at CCCG has been a fulfilling and transformative experience for David. He finds the institution's commitment to fostering a holistic learning experience to be inspiring. Collaborating with colleagues who share a passion for education and technology creates a vibrant atmosphere where innovative teaching practices can thrive.

David is excited to continue nurturing the next generation of tech-savvy individuals and contributing to the dynamic field of computer programming at CCCG. He finds joy in witnessing students grasp intricate programming concepts and is eager to continue his journey as an educator.


Besjana Begaj

Besjana is an ICT and Computing Lecturer with a Bachelors Degree and a Masters in Engineering as well as a teaching qualification in Education and Training. Besjana has also taught high-level maths lessons and enjoys teaching these courses because they are ever-changing and help students develop problem-solving abilities that are essential in today's digital environment. Besjana feels teaching adults and 16–18-year-olds is a rewarding experience, and our commitment to innovation and diversity at CCCG is inspiring. Gulcan Gullu

Gulcan Gullu has worked for 3 years in the Capital City College Group (CCCG) ICT and Computing department. Gulcan brings a love of learning and a wealth of knowledge to the group from working with beginning students up to Level 2 ICT courses.

Gulcan is skilled in Microsoft Office programmes and appreciates how ICT is dynamic and encourages innovation and problem-solving. Gulcan is inspired by working with adults and school leaver students who have varied viewpoints enhancing the classroom setting. Gulcan feels empowered by CCCG's dedication to innovation and diversity.
