
This course is for learners who have some knowledge and basic skills in production or maintenance engineering to enable them to progress safely into the workplace/employment or who want increase their skills and progress onto Level 3 Engineering. It allows you to learn, develop and apply the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the engineering sector.

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, collected from written assessments, presentations, witness statements, practice observations, and practical tasks.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Upon successfully completing this course, you are able to progress to Level 3 Engineering (apprenticehsip route) or Level 3 National Foundation in Engineering (university route).
