ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is accredited by City and Guilds.

This Level 5 qualification will help you develop the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the Further Education and Skills sector, such as teaching, learning and assessment in education and training. You will need to have a teaching placement and be able to complete at least 100 hours of teaching practice.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will take an analytical and practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. Whilst doing this, candidates will embed theories and principles in education and training and demonstrate them in their practice.

Candidates will also carry out research into professionalism in education and training policies and consider their impact on their role and their accountability as a teacher/trainer. Candidates will also have the opportunity to contribute to quality improvement and quality assurance within their own organisation. 

The qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector, such as:

  • Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
  • Developing teaching learning and assessment in education and training
  • Theories, principles and models of education and training
  • Wider professional practice and development in education and training The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification which extends into investigation and research into current practice, theories and models relating to education and training
  • Throughout the programme, candidates will demonstrate their ability to transfer the findings of their research into their own practice

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • To have already fully achieved the Certificate in Education and Training (CET)
  • A Level 3 qualification and/or experience in your specialist subject
  • GCSEs at grade 4 or above in English Language and Maths, or Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2, or be working towards the achievement of these 
  • Access to 100 hours of teaching practice over the duration of the programme
  • To successfully complete the written assessment requirements of the course at the appropriate academic level
  • An interview to confirm that the course is suitable for you
  • To apply and be enrolled before 30th August 2024

 

 

     

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

The qualification will be assessed by a combination of assignments and observation of teaching or training.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Adults - Level 5 and Level 6

If you will be aged 19+ before the start date of your course and you plan to study a Further Education course at Level 5 or Level 6, you may have to pay fees.

You may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
