ABOUT THE COURSE

This qualification is designed for individuals who are currently working or aspiring to work as Bricklayers in the Construction industry. The course aims to provide the necessary skills, knowledge, and practical experience required to excel in bricklaying and related tasks within the construction sector.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This qualification allows candidates to learn, develop, and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Bricklaying. The course covers a range of essential skills and techniques necessary for a successful career in the construction industry including:

  • Interpreting Working Drawings
  • Producing Thin Joint Masonry and Masonry Cladding
  • Building Solid Walling, Isolated, and Attached Piers
  • Constructing Cavity Walling

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You do not need to have any previous qualifications. All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying (6705-23), learners must achieve 49 credits from the mandatory units. Additional credits may be achieved from the elective unit but will not count towards the qualification.

Your assessments will be conducted in both workshop and classroom environments. You will be required to demonstrate basic skills development in brickwork and bricklaying, showcasing your practical abilities in these areas. The assessment process will be a blend of online and paper-based evaluations, ensuring a comprehensive review of your theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Aged 16-18


If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2


If you will be aged 19+ on 31st August prior to the start date of your course, up to Level 2, then your study with us will be free. You must have lived for 3 years within the EU/EEA/UK prior to the start of your course, you must have lived in the UK before 1st January 2021 and you must have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning. He has a proven track record of success in a variety of roles, including roofing, brickwork, and general builder. Garry is known for his ability to manage learners with complex needs while maintaining high-quality standards. He is also a highly effective communicator and collaborator and can build strong relationships with learners, employers, and team members.

Garry's skills and experience make him an asset to any construction team. He is proficient in a variety of construction trades and started his teaching career in 2006 at Epping Forest College. He went on to accept a post at HMP Belmarsh teaching youth offenders new skills to pursue a new career path in the construction industry to reduce the risk of re-offending.

In addition to his technical skills, Garry has an excellent rapport with both staff and learners alike, he is also a highly motivated and results-oriented individual. He is always looking for ways to improve his skills and knowledge, and he is always willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. Garry is a valuable asset to any construction team, and he is sure to make a significant contribution to any educational setting.
