ABOUT THE COURSE

The course comprises both knowledge and skills elements with opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills within the adult care sector.

This qualification aims to:

  • Focus on the study of the adult care worker's role in care settings
  • Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
  • Provide opportunities to acquire several practical and technical skills

The objectives of this qualification are to:

  • Build knowledge and skills to work in adult care in health and social care settings in England
  • Cover a wide range of areas allowing learners to tailor the qualification to meet their needs, interests
  • Preferred progression paths and the context of their job role

This qualification aims to:

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need

  • Level 2 Qualification in Health Care

or

  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English and are working towards your Level 2

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

This qualification is internally assessed and externally quality assured.

The assessment consists of two components:

  • An internally assessed portfolio of evidence which is assessed by centre staff and externally quality assured by NCFE 
  • An assessed Observation conducted in a work/placement setting (Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement)

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Aged 16-18


If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Level 3

If you will be aged 19 to 23 prior to the start date of your course, and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification, you may be eligible for a Level 3 entitlement, in which case your study with us will be free. If you are older, or already have a Level 3, we have many other Level 3 courses that are also free to study. Otherwise, you will have to pay the fees yourself or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.
