This course comes with a guaranteed job after successful completion and will give you the knowledge and skills you need to work on rail tracks safely and effectively. Learn about track layout, health and safety, manual handling techniques, how to carry out a track inspection, and how to maintain the track itself. Successful candidates will be offered employment in the rail industry.

You must be interested in a career in rail engineering, and be motivated and eager to learn. You must be aged 19 and above, and be able to attend college 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) for 8 weeks.

All learners will undergo a drug and alcohol test on the first week of the course.
Assessment will be based on the activities you do on the track itself, and exams for first aid, personal track safety, and track induction.
You might have to cover the cost for the PPE, which is for safety boots, a hi-vis jacket and trousers which will be an investment as you will need these items when you start working.
This course is a fast-track route into employment, and if you complete the course successfully, you will be offered employment in the rail sector.
