
This course combines theory with practical study, to give you a good understanding of what’s involved in supporting teaching and learning and how you can enhance the development of a child or young person. You’ll learn all about how children develop their understanding, professional best practice and how to promote learning.

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
Assessment is by work in class, your portfolio and the results of your observation by the assessor.
Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. On completion of this course, progression to the Level 3 or apprenticeship, will provide you with a broader knowledge of the industry. You are also able to apply for employment in a variety of environments including nurseries and pre-schools, in jobs such as nursery assistant or classroom assistant.
