The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments.
This course covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.
It’s aimed at learners working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.
The units you will study are:
Learners will be between 16 years old and 18 years old at the start of this course.
Applicants should have gained at least a grade 3 in both GCSE Maths and English Language before this course.
Although not a requirement, learners may find it beneficial to have completed a level 1 qualification in childcare and early years education prior to starting this course.
Assessment is by coursework, which is ongoing throughout the year.
Learners will be required to complete 30 hours of industry placement as part of this course.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

This qualification is free to study if you are between 16-18 years old. If you are 19+, we have a separate group for you to enrol into. Please check the website for details.
Progression from this qualification is into level 3, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Childcare and Early Years education.
