ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is for musicians who want to enter the music industry as performers, producers, singers/songwriters or those who want to get into a business role within the industry. You will study and develop skills in performance, production, composition, musicianship and music business, and will have the opportunity to record in our state-of-the-art recording studios.

This hands-on course is both practical and theoretical, focusing on vocational projects to develop your performance, composition and production skills, as well as your understanding of the music industry and the job roles within it.

We have industry-standard rehearsal and technical facilities to help prepare you for ensemble performance and music production.

Extended Diplomas have two one-year programmes. You need to finish the first year before moving on to the second.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This course consists of two separate qualifications. In your first year of study, you will work towards the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma. Following successful completion of this qualification, you will be able to progress to the Extended Diploma. Our Extended Diplomas offer equivalent UCAS points to studying 3 A Levels.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language or Maths and a Music/Performing Arts subject or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or above

All applicants must have an interview and audition to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed through a variety of practical projects that include:

  • Performing a variety of musical styles at internal & external venues
  • Producing portfolios of your own compositions
  • Starting & running your own live events company 
  • Creating marketing & promotional materials 
  • Presenting & pitching your ideas
  • Written coursework 
  • Managing a music festival
  • Writing for film & TV
  • Performing using technology

WHAT WILL IT COST?

Aged 16-18


If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, such as a Bachelor of Arts, or to pursue employment in the music industry.
