This course equips you with the skills and experience to progress in engineering, mixing practical work with underpinning theory to develop your understanding of the engineering environment. You will gain a broad level of understanding in performing engineering operations, and be able to progress your skills with further study.

You will need:Three GCSEs including English Language and Science at grade 3 or above and Mathematics at grade 4 or above or equivalent Level 1 qualification with Functional Skills in English at Level 1 and Mathematics at Level 2All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
Assessment is continuous throughout the year through completing written assignments and projects as well as and performing practical work that is assessed internally within the college. There will also be some written examinations, assessed externally via Pearson, the BTEC awarding body.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Saeesh, joined City and Islington College in July 2021 as the Curriculum Manager in Engineering. He has been a teacher in Engineering since 2010, starting off his career teaching in the Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Departments at Agnel Polytechnic College.
He arrived in the United Kingdom in 2011, to pursue his master's Degree in Motorsport Engineering at the prestigious Oxford Brookes University. He gained a lot of expertise there in the working of race cars and how race teams work. This is where, inspired by his professors he decided to pursue a career in Teaching.
His first full-time job in Engineering was at Harlow College in 2015. His subject specialisations include Engineering Mathematics, primary and secondary forming techniques, manufacturing processes, applied quality and commercial principles and material science. Since the start of his career, he has seen many young people succeed in their engineering courses and progress onto many amazing apprenticeships and reputed universities. He has also helped students with competitions like F1 in schools.
Jesna is an accomplished engineering lecturer who joined City and Islington College in 2022. With her vast knowledge and expertise in the field, she has become a valuable asset to the college's engineering department.
She holds a Masters Degree in Data Science, a field that combines her passion for computer science and engineering with her keen interest in data analysis and interpretation. Her deep understanding of data science techniques and methodologies allows her to effectively teach and inspire students to excel in this rapidly evolving field.
She believes in providing students with a comprehensive and practical education that prepares them for the challenges of the real world. In her last year in CANDI, she taught on two different qualifications: BTEC and Access to Engineering, covering ten units in her expertise.
Apart from her role as a lecturer, Jesna actively engages in research projects, contributing to the advancements in data science and computer engineering. She is a firm believer in the importance of staying up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies and encourages her students to do the same.
