Business Skills - Level 2 Diploma

This qualification is ideal for learners who want to develop an understanding of the essential skills required to work successfully in a business environment and gives them an understanding of business culture and responsibilities.

This qualification will help you to develop the skills required to solve problems, communicate and work effectively with others, and how to manage and improve your performance in a business environment.

You will study directly with employers - The course includes:

• Working on a project ( external employer)
• Developing Entrepreneurial skills (Pitching to external employers)
• Transferable skills - designed to be used in industry
• Development of behaviour, skills, and attitudes sought after by employers

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a:

• Level 1 qualification
• or 4 GCSE grade 3 
• Functional skills level 1 in English and Maths may also be helpful

You will be asssed  by 100% coursework by way of producing a portfolio. 

Aged 16-18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Some courses will have other associated costs, such as for specialist materials and trips. Many of our students are eligible for financial support, see here for details.

Upon completion, there are:

• Internal progress where you could go on the study, marketing, law, finance, entrepreneurship
• Apprenticeships
• Direct employment business administration, marketing, retail, working with local authorities

Anne is an experienced Curriculum Team Leader as well as lecturing in English, Business and Alternative Provision at City and Islington College. Anne has over 20 years of experience in lecturing and tutoring across all levels and subject ranges in Further Education for students ages 14-24 years old.

When delivering courses, Anne strives to meet the needs of students with diverse interests and abilities by introducing them to a range of subjects that can help them realise a progression pathway (employment, education, or training). The courses Anne delivers are enriched with educational trips, visitors from key organizations, specialist trainers and speakers which link to industry and are designed to develop interpersonal skills. 

Anne is currently delivering BTEC Level 1 Vocational Business and NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Business for learners aged 16-18. Anne embeds English to strengthen communication skills and deliver lessons through project-based learning. Both courses are linked to several businesses to provide a business context for a better understanding of the world of work.

Lee has a genuine passion for education and a rich history of excellence in the realm of business. His classroom sessions are characterised by dynamic discussions, real-world case studies, and interactive exercises that ensure students are equipped with the tools they need to navigate the corporate landscape with confidence.

His coaching endeavours have brought significant transformations in teaching dynamics, enabling educators to better connect with their students and drive tangible outcomes.

Here, he imparts crucial soft skills and industry insights to budding professionals, ensuring they are well-prepared to transition smoothly into the workforce. Jen is a focused, confident, hardworking, and extremely ambitious qualified lecturer, as well as an expert practitioner, working with both business and ICT delivering lessons to 16-18 and 19+ at the Capital City College Group.

Jen has a Degree and a Masters in Business as well as a vast amount of business knowledge and work experience in teaching, hospitality, and events management. Leadership, setting targets and monitoring are all skills which come naturally to Jen. Her teaching and learning assessment vary from active learning, scaffolding, blended learning, visualisation, and discovery learning, as well as a student-centred approach, which will all stretch and challenge learners to achieve learning outcomes, as well as improve teaching and learning. Along with a range of assessments, such as diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments. 

Having been an expert practitioner for some time now and undertaking a Level 3 coaching course, Jen learnt several skills to support, communicate, stretch, and challenge learners to enhance their vocational studies, set goals and increase achievement with exams and coursework.

Successfully achieving a Governor position at CCCG in 2021 has been a highlight of Jen’s career and enjoys sitting on the CCCG Board, gaining an understanding, and appreciation of CCCG's core business values, as well as a commitment to strategic aims and objectives to improve their own teaching abilities.
