This qualification is for learners aged 16 -18. This qualification is ideal for those who want to develop an understanding of the essential skills required to work successfully in a business environment and gives them an understanding of business culture and responsibilities.

The Diploma in Business is the equivalent of two A Levels. The optional units have been designed to support choices in progression to business courses in Higher Education and to link with relevant occupational areas such as Human Resources, Accounting, Business, Finance and Marketing.
Desmond is a former City solicitor who joined CCCG in 2013. He has a Business Law Degree from City University, a Masters in Education from UCL and an LPC from the College of Law.
He brings professionalism and a wealth of experience to his role as acting Head of School for Business and ICT where he co-manages a team of 22 experienced teachers.
His energy and enthusiasm for making the student experience both developmental and enjoyable has produced exceptional results with learners progressing to their university of choice, first-class apprenticeship programmes and prestigious work opportunities at UK top 500 firms such as Google, and Price Waterhouse.
Desmond has been instrumental in forming important partnerships with key employers such as Arsenal FC, and LVN who provide learners with fantastic work experience opportunities. Enrichment activities include foreign trips to South Korea and domestic excursions to Thorpe Park, Google, and the Central Criminal Court.
Chris has been an online entrepreneur since 2010, owning and operating two websites.
Chris joined Westminster Kingsway College in September 2014 teaching Business and Functional Skills English. He holds qualifications in BA (Hons) in Communications and Politics, an MA in Communications Management (specialising in Public Relations), a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education and a PGCE in Adult Literacy.
He embarked on his teaching career at Tower Hamlets College in 2001, as Lead School Links Tutor, after achieving his PGCE from UCL Institute of Education. As Lead Tutor, he was responsible for recruiting learners from schools in Tower Hamlets onto the college’s alternative provision programmes, alongside teaching business and English to those learners.
That early experience helped to foster his passion for offering learners, who were on the verge of disengaging from education, a 'fresh start' to enable them to fulfil their potential.
This passion now continues at Westminster Kingsway College.
He enables learners, on Level 1 and Level 2 courses, to make a fresh start and develop the skills, knowledge and self-confidence needed to progress on to higher level courses.
His entrepreneurial expertise enables him to embed current real-life business knowledge into his teaching practice.
Jen is a focused, confident, hardworking, and extremely ambitious qualified lecturer, as well as an expert practitioner, working with both business and ICT delivering lessons to 16-18 and 19+ at the Capital City College Group.
Jen has a Degree and a Masters in Business as well as a vast amount of business knowledge and work experience in teaching, hospitality, and events management. Leadership, setting targets and monitoring are all skills which come naturally to Jen. Her teaching and learning assessment vary from active learning, scaffolding, blended learning, visualisation, and discovery learning, as well as a student-centred approach, which will all stretch and challenge learners to achieve learning outcomes, as well as improve teaching and learning. Along with a range of assessments, such as diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.
Having been an expert practitioner for some time now and undertaking a Level 3 coaching course, Jen learnt several skills to support, communicate, stretch, and challenge learners to enhance their vocational studies, set goals and increase achievement with exams and coursework.
Successfully achieving a Governor position at CCCG in 2021 has been a highlight of Jen’s career and enjoys sitting on the CCCG Board, gaining an understanding, and appreciation of CCCG's core business values, as well as a commitment to strategic aims and objectives to improve their own teaching abilities.
