ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is aimed at absolute beginners who are completely new to Business and ICT. It provides a gentle introduction to both subjects, covering basic business principles and essential ICT skills needed to function effectively in a modern work environment. The course is suitable for individuals looking to build a foundation before progressing to more specialized studies.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

In this course, learners will:

  • Learn basic business concepts such as what a business is, types of businesses, and how businesses operate.
  • Study basic ICT skills, including typing, using the internet, and managing files and folders on a computer.
  • Explore common office applications like word processors and spreadsheets.
  • Understand how businesses use ICT for everyday tasks, from communication to managing information.
  • Learn about basic online safety and privacy issues.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

This course has no entry requirements, making it ideal for those with no prior knowledge or experience in Business or ICT.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

  • Simple practical exercises that allow learners to demonstrate basic ICT skills.
  • Short quizzes on business concepts.
  • A final project in which learners apply the basic skills learned throughout the course to a mock business scenario.
  • Observations of practical work carried out during class sessions.

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

Learners who complete this course can move on to intermediate-level courses in Business or ICT. The foundational skills acquired can help in securing entry-level jobs in administration, customer service, or as a junior office assistant. This course is also an excellent stepping stone for those looking to develop their business or ICT skills further.

These course outlines provide a clear pathway for learners to advance their knowledge of Business and ICT, starting from beginner to more intermediate levels, while being flexible enough to support individuals with various levels of prior experience. They are designed to support learners who were unable to cope with the demands of main stream study programme ,and will facilitate the development of key skills, knowledge And behaviours that over the duration of the 3 short courses will ultimately enable learners to reapply for a place at college onto a main stream study programme the following academic year.

MEET SOME OF THE TEACHERS

Desmond Corlis

Desmond is a former City solicitor who joined CCCG in 2013. He has a Business Law Degree from City University, a Masters in Education from UCL and an LPC from the College of Law. 

He brings professionalism and a wealth of experience to his role as acting Head of School for Business and ICT where he co-manages a team of 22 experienced teachers.

His energy and enthusiasm for making the student experience both developmental and enjoyable has produced exceptional results with learners progressing to their university of choice, first-class apprenticeship programmes and prestigious work opportunities at UK top 500 firms such as Google, and Price Waterhouse.

Desmond has been instrumental in forming important partnerships with key employers such as Arsenal FC, and LVN who provide learners with fantastic work experience opportunities. Enrichment activities include foreign trips to South Korea and domestic excursions to Thorpe Park, Google, and the Central Criminal Court.
