ABOUT THE COURSE

This course develops the knowledge, understanding and skills you'll need to follow your career pathway in Business. You will work closely with employers, namely Samsung, Google, and local charities such as Local Village network, who are integrated into the assessment process, giving you the essetial skills to get you ready for the world of work, higher education, apprenticeships, and interships.  You will be taught, Digital marketing, Finance, Law, Events, and Enterprise for those of you wanting to start your own business.

You will experience 'a learn by doing ' where you will have opportunites to run your own invent inviting friends, relatives, and small Business to take part and witness the work you have achieved on your course. Do watch our short video.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will 4 GCSE’s including English and Maths. You will be asked to come to interview to discuss with our course tutor your interest in applying for the course.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is carried by completing an employer linked project,  and core unit exams which embeds all units related to the course. The project is graded by achieving each task set out in the assignment brief. You will work closely with an employer brief which includes both theoretical and practical topics. This will give you both transferable practical skills and the theoretical ability to enhance your employability status with the purpose of recognising your ability to integrate the knowledge and skills gained on the course.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Level 3

If you will be aged 19 to 23 prior to the start date of your course, and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification, you may be eligible for a Level 3 entitlement, in which case your study with us will be free. If you are older, or already have a Level 3, we have many other Level 3 courses that are also free to study. Otherwise, you will have to pay the fees yourself or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

MEET SOME OF THE TEACHERS

Gulay Lawrence

Gulay is an experienced Lecturer with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. Skilled in Negotiation, Marketing Strategy, Finance, Strategy, Public Speaking, and Research. Strong support professional graduated from UCL Institute of Education.

Gulay has a wealth of skills, and experience in the Business Sector and its markets in working in a variety of fast-paced international businesses including American, French, English and Turkish multinational companies over 15 years and further education sector for over 12 years in various Further Education Colleges. 

Their past work experience has given them a great ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and find solutions as an individual and as a team member. Effective time management is vital to working efficiently, which enables them to keep up to date with learners’ progression and regular feedback for expected learning outcomes.

The skills and knowledge Gulay has acquired complement their teaching of business theory with real-world experiences. They possess an excellent working knowledge of Business Studies, Business Administration, Access to Business, Business Arithmetic, Statistics and Probability and currently teach on a range of different courses and levels.

Gulay is a very passionate and committed teacher, especially in providing a purposeful learning environment where learners feel safe, secure, confident, and valued. They believe a good educational background provides a better start, good opportunities, and outcomes in one’s life for the future. Gulay takes great satisfaction when learners leave the classroom satisfied and feeling that they have learned something new that day.


Reuben Cape

Reuben has been teaching Business at City and Islington since 2019. During this time, Reuben has consistently demonstrated a professional and dedicated approach to teaching and has been known for bringing out the very best in all his learners. Reuben’s teaching is primarily centred around the needs of his learners, but he puts his humour and personality into everything that he does.

Before teaching Business at City and Islington, Reuben had worked in several different fields, from Advertising to Real Estate, and even teaching English in Tokyo, Japan. Since working at CANDI, Reuben has been dedicated to creating a welcoming and productive learning environment for all, enriching his learners with the skills and experience required to enhance their learning journey.


Desmond Corlis

Desmond is a former City solicitor who joined CCCG in 2013. He has a Business Law Degree from City University, a Masters in Education from UCL and an LPC from the College of Law. 

He brings professionalism and a wealth of experience to his role as acting Head of School for Business and ICT where he co-manages a team of 22 experienced teachers.

His energy and enthusiasm for making the student experience both developmental and enjoyable has produced exceptional results with learners progressing to their university of choice, first-class apprenticeship programmes and prestigious work opportunities at UK top 500 firms such as Google, and Price Waterhouse.

Desmond has been instrumental in forming important partnerships with key employers such as Arsenal FC, and LVN who provide learners with fantastic work experience opportunities. Enrichment activities include foreign trips to South Korea and domestic excursions to Thorpe Park, Google, and the Central Criminal Court.
