This course offers a mixture of hands-on practical activities, industry visits and theory of science. Studying this course will provide you with the experience that will develop your skills and knowledge, and the confidence to progress towards higher level study in one of the sciences - applied, health, medical or forensic sciences.
Gaining the Level 2 qualification will allow you to investigate different science careers, learners will complete practicals into understanding human behaviour, studying ecosystems and having the chance to complete their own mini research project.

All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
Assessment is continuous throughout the year, this course provides a mixture of completing written assignments and projects as well as and performing practical work that is assessed internally within the college allowing you to experiement with all assessment styles. There will also be some written examinations, assessed externally via Pearson, the BTEC awarding body.
If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, such as a specialist Level 3 Extended Diploma, or an apprenticeship.
